Our newly released 2018 Optume Shiraz has scored an outstanding 98 points by the highly regarded Huon Hooke of The Real Review. Huon Hooke describes the wine:
"Good depth and hue of red-purple colour leads into a multi-layered bouquet of mixed spices and herbs, traces of licorice and dark chocolate, the flavour intense and elegantly framed, superbly poised and gorgeously textured. It's fleshy and fine-grained, supple and lithe along the palate, the finish seemingly endless. A smashing shiraz, full-bodied yet not heavy, powerful but not in any way overdone."
Winemaker Paul Bridgeman describes the 2018 vintage as providing ideal conditions and a lengthy growing season. Grapes were sourced from select premium sites located across the Yarra Valley with the express intention of creating a classic cool-climate Shiraz of exceptional regional character and typicity.
This assemblage of five individual sites combines their intrinsic strengths and expressions to deliver the optimum, a complete and superlative wine, greater than the sum of its parts. Only 982 bottles were made of this rare wine.
