The outstanding 2022 vintage provided ideal conditions for us to present a complete regional expression of Chardonnay, drawn from across the breadth of the Yarra Valley. Grapes were hand-picked over 15 days from four select clones across six blocks spanning three individual vineyard sites. This diversity of source, rising from the central valley floor to the higher, cooler, later-ripening upper Yarra, allows for a wine that transcends the personality of any single vineyard. Combining volume, intensity and weight with focus, elegance and restraint, this enticing slow-building fuller-bodied Chardonnay is the meeting of individual strengths and site expressions. It leads with an aromatic intensity of tangerine, sumac, fennel pollen, makrut leaf, chamomile, bread dough, spun sugar, crème anglaise and gun smoke, underpinned by grapefruit pith, slate and petrichor. The complex, textural palate delivers richness with precision, unfurling into a long and persistent finish that speaks to both the power and refinement of the region. A wine of presence and poise, worthy of decanting in its youth and with 15+ years of ageing potential.

The 2021 vintage delivered ideal conditions for the fourth release of our Optume Shiraz. Sourced from six premium Yarra Valley sites, this wine embodies the region’s cool-climate character and typicity in a complete, unified expression. Aromatically brooding yet refined, it layers red and black fruits with savoury spice, loganberry, cranberry, plum compote, white pepper, clove, black lime and porcini broth. The palate is juicy and slow-building, with elegance balanced by density, and a long finish framed by finely pixelated tannins. Decanting is recommended when young.
