Press Release | Limited Edition 2014 Sparkling Rosé Unveiled

Levantine Hill creates a work of art with 2014 Sparkling Rosé

Levantine Hill Estate has just released its first vintage sparkling Rosé. With less than 900 bottles made and a special edition label, designed by renowned Australian illustrator Alexandra Nea, this 2014 inaugural vintage will be enshrined as a collector’s item.

The new release retails at $150 per bottle, reflecting the rarity of the wine and its extended time on lees.

The special art on the label is the icing on the cake.

Since its official launch on Sunday 27 October 2019, over half of the vintage was sold, ostensibly exhausting the public allocation.

Winemaker Paul Bridgeman said, “The 2014 Sparkling Rosé delivers our vision of producing expressive sparkling wines that have had extended maturation to enhance their intensity.’’

“This 2014 traditional method sparkling Rosé wine features a bouquet of brioche, marmalade, raspberry, rose petals, caramelized peach and chalk undertone. The Pinot Noir flexes its weight on the palate as richness and bandwidth. The extended ageing ‘sur lie’ has enhanced body and crème anglaise texture over a saline acid backbone with blood orange, tarragon and radicchio flavors carrying through the finish.’’ Mr Bridgeman said.

Grapes for the 2014 vintage were hand-picked from the single planting of Pinot Noir Clone D2V6 on Levantine Hill’s Colleen’s Paddock vineyard. Cuvee taille juice was lightly racked to a single 1000-litre aged French oak foudre for fermentation. Elevage was undertaken on yeast lees for 11 months prior to
blending and tiraged for secondary fermentation in bottle. Each bottle is aged on its lees for four years prior to disgorging. This extended period of ageing on its autolyzing yeast lees has contributed further richness, width and complexity to its innate elegance and finesse.

“This painstaking, uncompromised method has produced our most individual, expressive and elegant sparkling wine yet,” Managing Director Samantha Jreissati said.

Illustrator Alexandra Nea said, “The philosophy of Levantine Hill resonates closely with my own creative energy, which includes hand craftsmanship, unique bespoke design, attention to fine detail and the capturing of special moments. We know life’s key moments are best enjoyed with family, loved ones and
bubbles of course.’’
