Inspired by the Grand Crus red wines of Burgundy, Colleen’s Paddock is perfectly positioned in a suntrap on a steep slope on the lowest and coolest part of the family estate. The steepness of the vineyard provides huge variations in ripening times, which means fruit picking in this tiny Pinot Noir block takes place over many weeks to ensure perfect ripeness in each small aliquot.

This wine exhibits an intense Pinosity with unfurling power, charm and complexity from a classically cool and extended vintage. As a medium-bodied yet bold Pinot Noir it leads with beguiling aromas of black cherry, raspberry, rhubarb, sarsparilla, kirsch and dark chocolate supported by savoury characters of porcini broth, nutmeg, graphite and underlying stalk-derived herbal notes. Showing a finesse, elegance and slow-build of power, the palate resounds with dark brooding flavours redolent of spice, sarsparilla and zesty citrus. The weighty yet supple mid-palate is drawn along to the resounding finish by tight lines of natural acidity, integrated oak and lovely medium-chain slow-build tannins.
