Top 5 places to visit in the Yarra Valley

If you’re planning a day trip or weekend to the Yarra Valley this Spring or Summer, you might be wondering what else you can pack into your day(s), in addition to visiting some of the region’s finest cellar doors. Whilst we’re biased and think a long lunch at Levantine Hill should be at the top of your list, here are our top 5 favourite places to visit:

Tesselaar Tulip Festival

357 Monbulk Road, Silvan, VIC 3795
www.tulipfestival.com.au

Well over a million spring flowering bulbs are on show throughout the festival, wander the gardens, indulge in traditional Dutch foods, and soak in the daily live entertainment on stage, including music and performances. Find treasures and souvenirs in the market stalls and enjoy beautiful garden displays.

Don’t miss – This festival is on from 16 September to 15 October 2023. Delicious foods include Poffertjes, croquettes, Dutch Kibbeling (fish), Gozleme, baked potatoes, potato twisters, cakes, double Dutch soft serve, and Belgian fries.

TarraWarra Museum of Art

313 Healesville-Yarra Glen Road, Healesville VIC 3777
www.twma.com.au

If a little bit of art is more your thing, you can’t go past visiting the TarraWarra Museum of Art. Having opened in 2003, it has become a cultural icon in the Yarra Valley.

Combining the best of modern and contemporary art with stunning architecture, it has a diverse program of exhibitions and events.

Don’t miss – Sydney Nolan, one of Australia’s leading artists of the 20th Century, will have over 100 of his works from the period 1955-1966 on display from 4 December 2021 to 6 March 2022.

This Spring, for only two weeks, you can visit the CherryHill Orchards and witness the Blossom Festival where the stunning cherry blossom flowers bloom.

Whilst the cherries won't be ready for picking until November this year, the Blossom Festival offers market stalls and live music every weekend.  This festival is also dog friendly.

Don’t miss – High Tea in the Blossoms on September 24 2023. Enjoy a luxury High Tea, nestled amongst a private row of cherry blossoms.

If you’re looking for somewhere suitable for big and small kids alike, a visit to the zoo at the world-renowned Healesville Sanctuary is a must.

We’re lucky to have a zoo on our doorstep in Healesville that provides a unique Australian wildlife experience, allowing us to see the animals in their natural habitat.

Don’t miss – A VIP Sanctuary tour will allow you to get closer to the koalas and kangaroos, while a ranger will share stories and insights about the native wildlife.

Yarra Valley Dairy

70-80 McMeikans Rd, Yering VIC 3770

Cheese from Yarra Valley Dairy

With the cheese shop located in a 100 year old milking shed on their farm, you’ll definitely feel like you’ve left the hustle and bustle of the city when you arrive.

Enjoy tastings of their fresh cheeses or sit down and enjoy a cheese platter with charcuterie and other local artisan produce.

Don’t miss – the Persian feta is our absolute favourite cheese – don’t miss it!
